In this sample User Persona, I present the concerns of a book publicist from when I was developing a Short URL application for a publisher. This User Persona captures the book publicist’s concerns, but fictionalizes the individual demographic data.
What the Persona tells us: Short URLs are handy for book promotions because they are easily shared by email and on post cards at events. Long URLs are difficult to share, so they are impractical. But Short URLs that cannot be modified later, are slow to respond, or must always be random, are also problematic. For a book publicist, any technology that gets in the way undermines the viability of their imprint. With this knowledge, I was able to create a URL Shortener application that met the needs of book publicists within the publishing house, while also benefiting others including book editors.
Why this format: When creating User Personas, I like to use this Figma template because the sliders make it easy to approximate information which is not absolute, such as introverted or extroverted, busy or not, independent or a team player, and so on. The rest of the template is pretty standard, and anyone who has worked with User Personas will feel at home.
